How to Decide Who
to Vote For

A brief outline by
Pastor Alan Brooks
(Based on
Romans 13:1-10 Daniel 2:21 Titus
3:1 I Peter 2:11-17)
-
VOTE
You have no room to complain if you do not exercise your
rights. Luke 20:25 "And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.
-
PRAY
1 Timothy 2:1,2 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable
life in all godliness and honesty."
-
MORALITY DOES MATTER
Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."
-
DO NOT VOTE YOUR
POCKET BOOK
Proverbs 11:4,28 "Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.",
"He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch."
-
KEEP A RIGHT SPIRIT
WHATEVER HAPPENS
Daniel 5:12 "Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel...",
Daniel 6:3 "Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm."

Christians
are:
- Peculiar People - Titus
2:14 "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good
works."
- Out of this World People -
John 17:14 "I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."
- Redeemed People -
Revelation 5:9 " And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;"
- Obedient People - Acts 5:29
"Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."

Government
is:
- Ordained of God - Romans
13:1,2 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."
- Ministers of God - Romans
13:3-5 "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."
- Terrors to Evil - Romans
13:3 "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:"
- Supported People - Romans
13:6-8 "For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom
honour. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."
