About
Us
Berean Baptist Church held it's first service the 1st
Sunday of November, 1997. Pastor Brooks often laughs as he tells
the story from the pulpit...how there was just his family and a couple
others in the pew. But there was even less the next Sunday...a
huge snow-storm blew in and shut everything down!! What a
start!
Our arrival at this location, 225 Sutton, has been a
gift from God. Without funds to purchase a building and very
little to spend on rent, Pastor Brooks drove the area and noticed the
vacant church. Inquiries revealed that an old Reformed church
built in 1964, now belonged to the next door school and was only
occasionally being used for the school's band practice. With a very amicable rent agreement, Pastor Brooks could now open
the doors to Berean Baptist Church and begin a ministry to the local
community.
Today, the fundamental, Biblical truths preached at
Berean are for those with a discerning ear, with a heart that seeks after
God's will for their lives, and for those who desire to act on the Holy Spirit's
leading. Real, nourishing food is served at this table...complete
with constant encouragement to eat the greens - sometimes it's not what
we want to hear, but it is definitely what we need.
Spiritual growth has been evident in the lives of fellow believers
here. It's an amazing thing to be a part of...a church that is
alive and seeking after God's will!
